Flow bench at Applied Flow Technology
VW head porting Service Available:
Stage I - use stock valves, Performance valve job (Radius valve seats, back cut and top cut valves) port intake ports and exhaust ports, Balance flow between each port. Porting to the level where no more flow is available with stock valves. Much better intake to exhaust flow ratio than stock.
For Street applications, race applications where stock valves must be used. New springs, guides as necessary.
Stage II - Build off Stage I work, new valves( lighter then stem, close to stock sizes , springs, guides)
Stage III - build off Stage I and Stage II, larger valves, requiring new seats.
Please use the Contact page if your interested in either performance intake manifolds, performance VW port and polish work for counter/cross flow, Solid lifter 8 or hydrolic lifter valve heads.
Example project: MK4 turbo ported head and ported intake manifold
8 Valve 2.0 Jetta and Golf performance upgrade, ported head and intake example project.
Supertech valvetrain, tapered guides, CNC performance valve job. All out ported intake manifold to match.
2000 VW Golf, 8 valve head.

Its said that most the Horsepower gains are all in the head. There are several cylinder head modifications techniques targeted at different functions of the head that increase horsepower and torque. Very good reference atricle on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_head_porting The different functions fall into a few categories, each with its own modification techniques :
Air flow:
Increase Rotational capacity:
Increase combustion efficiently:
When the compression is increased combustion chamber turbulence increases and with increased turbulence quicker and more efficient combustion occurs. Picture of proper high performance valve Job and port and polish on a 87 GTI hydro 8v head, Installed on a Rabbit GTI with a fresh rebuilt 1.8 JH bock. Work performed on this head:
Test Flow Data: Higher Numbers indicate more restriction, and less flow. Lower numbers indicate less restriction and more flow.
